BioBlitz 2016 at Mura River
For the second time now, the BioBlitz event took place along the Mura River on Friday and Saturday, 10 and 11.06.2016. The event was organised by the Institute for Nature Conservation, together with more than 40 organisations. The motto of the event was 24 hours with the Mura River, which meant 24 hours of exploring biodiversity, nature and culture along the Mura River.
There were an inspiringly vast number of different workshops offered during the two days and also the field trips provided the children with a lot of knowledge and some lasting memories. The children’s feedback to the BioBlitz was nothing but positive and they were thrilled to learn about a lot of different species, such as snakes, frogs, birds, dragonflies, beetles, butterflies, plants, mushrooms, molluscs,…. The children could also learn how to wash gold and how to be a nature photographer.
In addition to the scientific programme, children gave some sing and dance performances and also prizes for the photography and painting competition were awarded.
To sum up: The event was as varied as the Mura River and its surrounding ecosystem.
