Several EU-funded restoration projects are trying to restore natural conditions at the Mura River straddling along the border of Austria and Slovenia. So far 5,000 m shores of the Mura River have been “widened”, 400,000 m³ bed load were added to prevent further river bed deepening of the Mura, 60 ha floodplain forest and 45,000 m of side brooks have been restored.
